Accessibility Statement - CogniFit

Accessibility Statement

CogniFit, Inc. is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of September 7, on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications in the public sector.

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://www.cognifit.com

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with RD 1112/2018 due to the exceptions and non-conformities listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with RD 1112/2018

Principle 1: Perceivable

  • There are images without descriptive alternative text or with inadequate alternatives, preventing screen reader users from understanding the visual content.
    • [Criterion 1.1.1 Non-text Content - Level A]
  • Embedded videos (YouTube) lack audio description for visually impaired users, and no descriptive transcripts are provided as an alternative.
    • [Criterion 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative - Level A]
  • There are incorrectly implemented lists, with <li> elements not contained within <ul> or <ol> tags, which hinders structured navigation for assistive technology users.
    • [Criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships - Level A]
  • The autocomplete attribute is present on form fields but configured as disabled (autocomplete="off"), preventing users from benefiting from auto-completion of personal information to facilitate form filling.
    • [Criterion 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose - Level AA]
  • Color alone is used to convey important information (such as validation states, availability, or categorization), without providing additional textual or iconographic indicators.
    • [Criterion 1.4.1 Use of Color - Level A]
  • Multiple elements on the site have insufficient color contrast between text and background, making reading difficult for users with low vision or color perception deficiencies.
    • [Criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) - Level AA]
  • Text cannot be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality, making reading difficult for users with low vision who need to enlarge text size.
    • [Criterion 1.4.4 Resize Text - Level AA]
  • When resizing content to 400% using browser zoom, important information is lost and some elements fall outside the viewport or overlap.
    • [Criterion 1.4.10 Reflow - Level AA]
  • There is a lack of contrast in non-text elements such as icons, informational graphics, and interface components, making them difficult to identify for visually impaired users.
    • [Criterion 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast - Level AA]
  • Users are not allowed to modify text spacing (line height, paragraph spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing) without loss of content or functionality.
    • [Criterion 1.4.12 Text Spacing - Level AA]

Principle 2: Operable

  • The content is not fully navigable by keyboard. Specifically:
    • It is not possible to exit the video player using only the keyboard
    • Several interactive elements are not accessible via keyboard
    • Multiple components are not included in the tab order
    • [Criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard - Level A]
  • There are keyboard traps in the video player and other components, where focus becomes trapped and does not allow the user to navigate away from the element using only the keyboard.
    • [Criterion 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap - Level A]
  • There is no mechanism to skip blocks of repeated content (such as the main navigation bar) present on multiple pages, unlike sites such as YouTube that do implement skip links.
    • [Criterion 2.1.4 Character Key Shortcuts - Level A]
  • Animations present on the page (intro animation and brand/logo animation) cannot be paused, stopped, or hidden by the user, which may cause distraction or issues for users with attention disorders or motion sensitivity.
    • [Criterion 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide - Level A]
  • Links and buttons lack adequate descriptive text about their purpose or destination. Examples include:
    • Generic buttons such as "Get Started" or "Learn More" without context
    • Links to games without a clear description of the content
    • [Criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) - Level A]
  • The keyboard focus indicator is not visible when navigating the site, preventing keyboard users from knowing their current position.
    • [Criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible - Level AA]
  • Since there is no visible focus, there is also no focus indicator with sufficient contrast against the background, further hindering keyboard navigation.
    • [Criterion 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) - Level AA]

Principle 3: Understandable

  • The language attribute (lang) is not present on all pages of the site. For example, it is missing on the "Games" page once logged in, preventing screen readers from correctly identifying the content language.
    • [Criterion 3.1.1 Language of Page - Level A]

Principle 4: Robust

  • The <select> element for option selection lacks:
    • Descriptive value values in its options
    • An associated <label> that clearly describes its purpose
    • [Criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value - Level A]
  • The aria-label attributes used contain generic, non-descriptive text (such as "Try it"), instead of providing meaningful information about the element's function.
    • [Criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value - Level A]

Disproportionate burden

Not applicable.

Content not within the scope of applicable legislation

There may be office files in PDF or other formats published before September 20, 2018, that do not fully meet all accessibility requirements. However, efforts have been made to ensure that most of them do comply.
